Autumn Color Week - Orange

Orange is such a welcoming fall color.  It draws you in and wraps you up in it's friendly warmth.

Autumn Color Week - Green

This week is Autumn Color Week, sponsored by Poppytalk.  It's a week full of the celebration of the gorgeous colors fall brings us.  Each day focuses on a different color and today's color is green.  Which just so happens to also be my favorite color - at least for the moment.

A Clean Slate

I'm ready.  The house has been scoured; my crafting goods are in order; Lily Jane Stationery is neat and tidy; my to-do list is written.  Today, as fall temperatures begin to settle in to the Salt Lake Valley, I'm starting with a clean slate.  It's a fabulous Monday to begin a new season and new goals in earnest, don't you think?

For the new season, I'm setting a goal to obtain some fall decor.  Sadly, there's not a stitch of it in my house.

I wouldn't be disappointed if a couple of these soft handmade pumpkins made it on to my table.  I love the fabrics Jenny chose.  And there are many more designs to choose from in her shop.

My other goals?  Some new projects, complete with tutorials; new designs for Lily Jane; and party plans, from invitations to dessert.  Stay tuned.  This is going to be good!

Diana Fayt

Every Saturday I trek out to the farmer's market, toddler in the umbrella stroller and linen sack hung over the handles.  I never leave without a stop at the florist's booth for a fresh bouquet.  But I must admit, I have little floral arranging skills.    I have a feeling it wouldn't take much to make them look spectacular in one of Diana Fayt's handcrafted vases.

Created to hold smaller amounts of flowers, each vase has a narrower mouth than some of the traditional vases you might find at a florists' shop.  And the beautiful details on each one guarantee that they'll look gorgeous even without flowers.  Aren't they stunning?  You can find more of Diana's work at Heath Ceramics.

Hello Tenfold

Today's feature is on the lovely work of Ellie Snow.  I'm so glad I found her!  Her work and blog are always inspiring.

Over at Ellie's shop, Hello Tenfold, you can find all sorts of gorgeous paper goods.  She offers custom silhouette illustrations.  I love how she layered this couple together so it appears as though they're standing side by side, looking off into the future.  What a perfect wedding motif!

The Save the Date magnets (pictured on right) are ingenious.  What a clean and stylish way to give guests a subtle reminder.  

You can also find beautiful wedding programs, invitations and stationery at her shop.  I haven't seen a design of hers that I haven't fallen in love with.

Letterpress Class - Part 2

Saturday was the second class in my 2 weekend workshop.  And now I have goodies to share.  The class was on printing from photopolymer plates.  It was amazing to see a photo go to a computer image to a photopolymer plate...

to an actual print...

This particular print was done on rag paper.  The texture is so soft and luxurious and it allows the ink to bite (just a tiny bit) into the paper.

We also made plates using a a red scratch film which we "traced" an image on to.  This is my work (the pitcher on the right) along with the work of 2 of my other classmates. 

Since we made quite a few prints I've decided to sell a few of mine at Lily Jane Stationery.  I can't wait to learn more letterpress, but  I'm afraid the only classes available in my area are offered during fall and summer and I just missed the fall registration deadline.  So the question is which class should I take in the meantime?  Screenprinting, calligraphy or drawing?
