a touch of green

This is my favorite way I've seen this year to add a touch of green to your outfit for St. Patty's Day - a sequined bow headband by ban.do.

What do you think of these vintage button cards by Papier Valise?  I think they're adorably clever.

Each is an impeccably preserved original sheet of buttons.  The colors are so vibrant!  I could see these being used easily for a creative Father's Day card.

Happily found these mid-century modern color palettes over the weekend.  Anyone in need of a little inspiration?  I know I always am.

I hope your weekend was great.  Mine was lovely - but I'm excited to start the week today.  I have my first boutique coming up on Friday and so many things to get done before then!  Luckily, they're all things I love to do, so it'll be lots of fun.

paula hayes

I love the casual, clean look of these dumpling planters by Paula Hayes.  I think they'd look wonderful in a little grouping on a wooden deck or in the corner of a backyard garden. 

Can you believe it's Friday already?  What do you have planned for your weekend?  At my house, the remodel continues.  We found an antique clawfoot tub!  And I'm thinking about using this and this to help boost storage in the bathroom, too.  Also, I love the look of the swing arm sconce over the medicine cabinet in this photo.  But I'd like one with a lighter finish: maybe pewter or chrome?  If anyone has one that they love, please let me know!

Beautiful interiors from the talented Eric Cohler.  He's a master at successfully combining classical and contemporary elements into one breathtaking room. 

 

I love how polished and finished each of the rooms look while maintaining a warm and comfortable vibe.  I would feel at home hanging out in any of them.  One of my favorite design features: the horizontal striping in the living room and the shower.

happy wednesday: fabric walls

This idea for dressing up bare walls really does make me happy.  Using a cornstarch solution, sheets of fabric can be temporarily adhered to walls.  It's the perfect solution for white-walled apartments, children who like to redecorate their rooms frequently or anyone who wants to do something pretty and a little different with their decor.

 

Isn't it a pretty way to add texture?  You can even use pieces of fabric to make designs on blank walls, if you prefer.

Hello, again.  How was your weekend?  You may think I took a long one because of my absence yesterday and I guess, in a way, I did.  My sister came in town and I spent the day with her and her adorable baby girl.  It was great fun, but I do apologize for my tardiness. 

Today, I'm thinking that I really ought to buckle down and buy some rolls of Japanese masking tape to use for packaging.  I've had a crush on them for some time. 

There are so many pretty ones, I'm not sure which to choose!  I love how quickly and simply these can dress up a plain simple box; add a tag and you're set to give a fun gift.  Or, add a label and mail it to someone.  How much more fun would a package with these colorful accents be to receive?

pothole gardens

Here's a pretty idea to start off your weekend: pothole gardens.  A clever way to turn a problem into something pretty. 

I hope you have relaxing weekend plans.  We'll be starting phase one of our new renovations with the bathroom and laundry.  Can't wait to see what we find when we tear everything up; this house is always hiding surprises.  Happy weekend!

kate bingaman-burt

After seeing this illustration that was just published in Newsweek, I knew I wanted to see more of Kate Bingaman-Burt's work.  Turns out, drawing is something she's made a life out of - or, better yet, life is what she's made drawings out of.  Kate makes an illustration of each and every purchase or payment she makes (including parking tickets!) and compiles them in monthly magazines.

Not only do I love her illustrations for their visual appeal, but I think this is a fabulous way to chronicle a life.  What she bought, along with the witty captions, tells the viewer about her personality and how she lives day to day life.  Paired with the prices she paid for everything, a lot of people are going to love flipping through this snapshot of history a few years down the road.  If you want to see more right now, check out her flickr, blog or shop for more hand-drawn goodness.

I can't believe it's Wednesday already!  How has your week been going?  Since March arrived I can see signs of spring and my days seem to be going by much faster.  Even today's mid-week pick me up looks like spring's breath has grazed it.  These pretty vintage labels are free for you to print to use on letters, gifts, invitations, favors - anything you can think of.
