These bamboo pieces from Lexon have such gorgeous, clean lines and so much natural appeal I couldn't help but fall in love with them. They have a decidedly masculine feel to them, too. Which could be just right for Father's Day.
I've also got a crush on this pretty little calculator. I know we all use our computers or phones now, but I think this might just win any contest for my attention.

As some of you may have noticed already, the blog underwent a minor makeover last night. It's something I've been working on for quite some time and is an extension of the rebranding I've been doing on my stationery line. I wanted something that was more versatile and clean and I'm very pleased with how it's turned out. Here's a peek at how the shop looks now.

Hello, again! I hope you're having a lovely Monday. How was your weekend? Did you do something exciting or keep it relaxed and easy-going? We spent nearly the entire weekend with friends, which was wonderful. A chunk of Saturday was dedicated to watching the US play England in the World Cup. And Sunday was my baby girl's birthday. We made a cake for the occasion and, of course, stopped by to visit her at the cemetery. I love that cemetery; it's always so beautiful in the summer. It was a bittersweet day, but we were so blessed to have so many people remember her birthday and tell us they were thinking of her.
I also discovered Olioboard over the weekend. Olioboard is a free mood board creator chock full of real items from tons of retail stores. Remember that post I did on inspiration boards? Well, if you still haven't tried making your own, now is the time to do it. Everything is in one spot. Here's one I just threw together.
It's really fun to do and could get rather addicting, but it's a great jumping off point for decorating your room. You can purchase all the items used in your mood board or use them as inspiration for a DIY project. That little yellow dresser? I bet you'd be able to find something similar on craigslist or at a garage sale and paint it yellow yourself.

This week has been such a busy one! I've been confused about what day it is all week long. Isn't it funny how some weeks are just like that? But lots of good things happened. The bathroom sink, toilet and laundry sink are all in and working and the tub has been painted and put in to place. My garden is miraculously still alive, even with my novice experience.
And this weekend is a very special one. Sunday would have been Lily's first birthday. So bittersweet, but I'm determined to focus on the memories of her life because this is the day she lived. Memories like holding her for the very first time.
We're still deciding how to memorialize Lily's birthday. We'd like to mark it as a tiny movement for good. I think that's what we'll do. She brought so much good. It seems right to do good again on her birthday. Will you help us by doing something kind for someone around you this

Isn't finding the perfect place to curl up and read a book nirvana? An overstuffed chair tucked in an out-of-the-way corner, an Adirondack on the porch, a warm patch of sunlight spilling across a cozy blanket and floor pillow on the rug. It's like heaven.
Here's wishing you the perfect reading nook; everyone should have a spot in their home they feel is a retreat. What's yours?

This locket is my favorite piece. It's a lovely little departure from the traditional with a slightly modern feel to it.

I am a lover of wood floors. I would be ecstatic if every square foot of my house was covered in rich, grainy goodness. Which is probably why it nearly is (we compromised on the bedrooms, where my husband is a firm believer in the comfort of carpet). My answer to the need for soft and cushy underfoot? Rugs. They add so much to a room. Take a gander at each of these beautifully decorated rooms and try to imagine it without the rug.
Don't they seem barren and cold without a rug? Almost empty, even with so many other lovely things to work with. Rugs have a way of focusing coziness and warmth that makes a space that much more welcoming. I'd like to jump right in to any of these living rooms.

This table/desk by Razy2 is a multi-tasking machine. Sliding pieces of the top move aside to reveal hidden storage compartments underneath, all packaged in a sleek minimalist design. I love things that do multiple jobs! And I love extra storage. So this is a winner in my book.
