Have a Lovely Weekend

Well, my dears, it's been another lovely week here.  I hope it has wherever you are, too.  What do you have planned for the weekend?  I'll be spending time with family, adding a few new items to the shop and having a pizza fest with some friends.  We'll be making a few different varieties all from scratch.  Doesn't that sound delicious?

I can't wait.  Do you have any suggestions for what toppings we ought to try?  Also, I have a few links to share with you today.

Printable: More Toy Bin Tags

Remember the toy bin tags I made for my son a few months ago?  Well, when I shared them with all of you everyone liked them so much I decided to make a second sheet.  Hurray! 

So many of you had requests; thank you for sharing!  I couldn't do everything, of course, but I did choose the ones that the greatest number of people asked for: play dough, puppets, little people, puzzles, blocks, dress up, balls, games, art supplies and movies.

To use these tags, all you have to do is download the pdf and print.  You can then use them however you please.  I chose to punch a hole and tie some thread through mine to hang on storage baskets.

I'd love to hear about how you're using them.  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know.  And be sure to tell your friends so they can get in on the goodness, too.

Summer Sales: Linens

There's no better way to buy things than on sale.  I mean, if the option's available, you'd always take it, right?  This is the wonderful time of year where all the summer goods start to go on sale...with a month of summer left to enjoy them.  And some things can, of course, be used all year long.  Like these pretty linens now on sale from Toast.

The styling is very warm weather, but I can see each of these being used in the colder months, too.  Heavy quilts would quickly cozy up the light weight bedding and that beach/picnic mat could be used for indoor picnics while the weather is gray.

Do you prefer to change things out completely for fall and winter?  Or do you alter what you already have in your home to fit the seasons?  How so?

Growing up, the polaroid just meant my grandma's ancient camera.  Wow, has that ever changed.  Who would have thought I'd fall in love with them once I was old enough to take my own?  These warm and summery polaroids are by photographer, Rachel Dubbs.

These gorgeous, glitzy creations are so fun and femme.  The apparel designed by Mallory of es + es kids is one of those things that has to be just as much fun to buy as it is for the children to wear.

I love the fun and flouncy Ella skirt, too.  Glitter, bows and ruffles.  How can you go wrong with that? 

Were you all about pink and bows when you were growing up?  Do you have girly-girls in your home now?

Decorating with Card Catalogs

As a stationery designer, and someone who loves to delve into all sorts of projects, I have a habit for collecting little odds, ends and art supplies.  I then have the habit (much to my husband's chagrin) of tucking these odds and ends wherever I find a suitable space: our bedroom closet, a stack of plastic drawers, the tiny drawer under the desk, the linen closet.  The solution to all this disorganization: card catalogs.  Have you seen them put to use in interiors lately?  They have such a lovely look to them.  Plus, all those tiny compartments are perfect for organizing all the odds and ends that would be better off not tucked throughout the house. 

I recently found a version of these (with a twist) for my own office and have already shouted hallelujahs for it.  Imagine needing a supply and have been able to find it in an instant.  And having such an eye-catching piece of furniture in the house.  We all need beautiful, functional storage throughout our entire homes and card catalogs look amazing in any room.

Make Believe Mirrors

I think these cut out mirrors would be a hilarious addition to a child's bedroom.  How much fun would the kids have playing dress up with this mirror, pretending to be a deer or a pirate?  It would be a favorite activity every time friends came over.

Doily Parasols

How about a bit of paper lace to fancy up your next glass of ice-cold lemonade?  These paper doilies turned parasols are such a lovely little touch.

Vintage Ice Cream Social

The gorgeous styling for this birthday ice cream social is just picture perfect.  So sweet, innocent and summery.  Even down to this gentleman's straw boater hat and bow tie.  I'm in love.

I can't remember the last time I had an ice cream sundae with a cherry on top, but I've got a bowl of cherries in the fridge and I'm feeling inspired by this pretty get-together.  Now to pick up some whipping cream...

Thornback and Peel

Thornback and Peel's hand screenprinted fabrics make for some fun and quirky summery pieces.  I love the personality in these deck chairs and hankies.

I think the hankies would be so fun to frame and hang on the wall.  Also, these lettuce napkins.  Hurray for quality printed linens.
