Hello, my dears.  How is your Monday going?  Thanks to some rainy/snowy/wet weather mine has been rather cozy and relaxed tucked here inside our house.  A refreshing break from a busy but very fun weekend.  Friday night we had a little get together for the hubby's birthday; I'll be sharing more details from that (and a free printable invitation) later this week.  Suffice it to say we learned that the capacity of our living room is about 15 people and a baby, philly cheesesteaks are pretty easy to make at home, and two plates of brownies are bordering on excessive (somebody please come eat some so I don't eat them all!).

Now that it's Monday it's back to work!  My fabric has come for my chairs (hurray!) and if the weather lets up I'll be starting the painting/recovering process.  And there are Christmas cards to be added to the shop!  I'm thinking it would be pretty nice to be flitting around the desktop with my hand atop this beautiful mousepad right about now.  Isn't it gorgeous?  It puts the plastic Dell one we have to shame.  And then some.

Thus far for photographer features I've stuck to landscapes, still life and the like.  But today I was so captivated by these images Fabio Bartlet did for Marie Claire that I couldn't help sharing them with you.  They're so light, pretty and...well...just gorgeous.

I love the peach tones in the first and last photo.  It's such a delicate, feminine color; one I'd like to stock my closet with when warmer weather comes around again.

For the Children: Finger Puppets

Wow.  The last few days have been some of those crazy days that have so many good things in them but their fair share of stress to accompany them.  Prep work before a party, trying to cook something time-intensive I've never done before, figuring out insurance policies.  All sorts of fun things.  Do you ever have days like this?  Craziness all strung in a row?

Wouldn't it be great to be little again and have our biggest concerns be whether to have white or chocolate milk and what games to play when our friends come over?  I, for one, would have no trouble choosing finger puppets to play with.  Especially these adorable ones by Baby Animals. 

Such creative groupings: animals of the scottish highlands and the arctic.  I hope she creates more sets in the future.  They're so endearing.

Vintage Shop: Johnny Vintage

Hello, hello, my dears.  How are you today?  How was your weekend?  Did you have a fun Halloween?  Ours was rainy and wet, but, happily, our boy is still young enough to be satisfied with a small pile of candy so a short trick-or-treating spell was just right for him.  He's now reveling in the fact that he has a bowl of candy that belongs to no one but him; he even passes on the home-baked treats in favor of his stash.  Do your kids love candy as much as mine does?

Over the weekend I also happened to find some amazing deals in the local classifieds: 3 Schoolhouse Electric light fixtures for $100 and two gorgeous tufted chairs for $20 a piece.  I've ordered fabric and will be recovering the chairs.  I'm completely in love with them; I can't wait to get started and show you the finished product.

All of this making old new again has made me start a serious hunt for great finds to make our home prettier.  So, of course, I'm loving new-to-me vintage shop, Johnny Vintage.  So many great pieces to spice up your home decor.
